As part of its annual Top 50 Rising Stars report, GrowthBusiness revealed its list of businesses that have increased their turnover and/or profit by at least 20% during a 3-year period. The finance publication's research used data from both the UK's Companies House and Bureau van Dijk's Fame.
To qualify for the Rising Stars listing, companies needed to have a turnover between £2.5 million and £100 million, with profits of £200,000 or more. The combined turnover of all the companies included total £1.61 billion and total profits were £790 million. In addition to the percentage growth of profit and turnover, GrowthBusiness considered factors including the speed at which they scaled, product innovation, and quality of leadership.
At the top of the list was Gtech, a producer of vacuum cleaners, lawnmowers and eBikes. The Worcestershire-based company showed a turnover of £91.2 million in 2016 (up 315% from 2013) and profits of £49.5 million in the same year (up 377% from 2013).
