Data from Bureau van Dijk’s Fame database has helped Fast Track, the private company network, to identify and rank the fastest-growing UK tech companies according to the latest sales figures.
The Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100 was published on 9 September. Well-known names on the list included peer-to-peer lending platform Funding Circle, fashion platform Farfetch, cyber-security company Darktrace and currency transfer firm TransferWise.
“Data from Bureau van Dijk was very useful when compiling our 18th annual Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100 league table, which features Britain’s fastest-growing private technology companies, ranked by their latest sales,” said Hamish Stevenson, founder and chief executive of Fast Track.
“This year, the 100 companies had combined sales of £3.3 billion and grew their sales on average over the last three years by a record of 101% a year. Together they employ 19,300 staff, having added 14,000 jobs over the period.”
The top five companies are communications provider Plan.com, biotechnology developer PsiOxus, cloud security software developer CensorNet, automation software developer thoughtonomy and employee engagement services company Perkbox.
The top three firms on the list are located outside London, including the top company, based in the Isle of Man, and 78 of the firms have secured funds from venture capital.
Businesses considered for the Tech Track 100 list must:
- show a commitment to innovation, research and product development
- be registered in the UK
- be independent and unquoted
- total annualized sales in the last year exceed £5 million; and sales growth over the previous year
